Julie Fleming makes hats and fascinators. She exclusively sells beautiful hand made silk flowers which are made from her original design & specifications - these are handmade for her in Europe.
Many of these flowers are hand tinted (painted) and are made from the most beautiful fabrics including silk chiffon and silk velvet - many embellished with Swarovski crystals.
Julie holds the largest selection of hand made flowers in Australia. Whatever colour you require, Julie will have it in fact she has a wall of flowers and you are sure to find the colour you are looking for!

Julie Fleming is Australia’s leading Milliner. With a background in Fine Art she obtained her millinery training, in the traditional method with one of England’s top milliners Philip Somerville in the heart of the couture salons and workrooms in the West End, off New Bond Street, LONDON.
Philip Somerville is well known for his designs for the Royal family including the Queen, the late Princes of Wales and many stars of stage and screen.
Here Julie received her tuition from milliners in their 70th year that had been milliners since starting their apprenticeships at the age of 14.

A wealth of knowledge gained hands on Julie returned to her hometown of Melbourne in 1989 and immediately set up her own thriving millinery establishment exclusively by appointment.
Julie’s designs feature prominently in many fashion magazines and she has had her designs feature on many covers (including 5 covers of Vogue Australia).
Situated in the first three rooms of an Edwardian house Julie’s latest shop in Malvern Road stocks a variety of products all hand selected by her.
It is here that she also handmakes her millinery pieces and designs in her studio which can be viewed from the shop itself.
Julie has an extensive private client list eagerly snapping up her beautiful one of a kind model hats and accessories each Spring and Winter Racing Carnival from her salon in Malvern Road, Hawksburn.

MILLINERY CLASSES with Julie Fleming
Julie is Australia’s leading Milliner she trained in London with Philip Somerville, whose client list includes the Queen, The Late Princes of Wales and the Duchess of Kent as well as many stars of stage and screen. Since establishing her own fashion business on her return to Melbourne in 1989 Julie Fleming has had a faithful following in the fashion world and a thriving private clientele who visit her Malvern Road salon every year for their Spring Racing Hats. Julie is proud to say she has been on the cover of ‘Vogue Australia’ five times.
Come and join our friendly team and learn to make hats with like minded people. We guarantee you will enjoy the making process and you will be able to expand your knowledge of making hats or discover the ‘how to’ if you are a beginner.
You will expect to make at least one summer or winter hat during the course and depending on your skill level you could potentially make more than one hat. Some smaller items that you need are supplied we will have a chat prior to discuss what materials to purchase and to bring on the first day.
